Test your Fuel In...

As one of the Mitsubishi 1999 Auto car suddenly stop in cold condition and sudden stalls on some driving conditions.Checked battery, fuel lines and Ignition coils, spark plugs but everything seems to be work. Except the spark in the spark plugs. When bench test the coils separate, spark was 100% good on the spark plugs. But when fixed in the car spark was about very low. It's mostly like 20% of spark generates end of the spark plugs. Scanned the car with Launch X431 and no OBD codes show up, or either no MIL or limp mood.
I did a research on internet and also run through the ignition coil wires to ECU to make sure the Ignition coil signal wire from ECU is has a good connection. Everything seems good. Finally decide to open the ECU and check any capacitors or transistors and FET's got damage or any water damages. Didn't seen anything like that. So moved on with a components which is related to Ignition section which is mostly like to be 2 transistors of the ECU. found out the 2 transistors running through the Ignition coil signal wires to ECU. which is burnt very often if there is any short circuit inside the Ignition Coils. So ordered the components online and de-solder the 2 smd ignition transistors from the ECU and re-solder new components.
Finally to make sure checked with the different Ignition coils instead of use the same old coils. Well it worked! So I can confirm that the issue due to low spark is that faulty 2 ignition coil drive transistors in the ECU. Cheap fix and easy!
Regarding this repair I came through, only other option is replacing the faulty ECU to good one. But there is a problem when replacing an ECU we might have to reprogram the key as this model is comes with a transponder chip inside the key. So I saved some $$ for the customer. Cheers!
